Best Of Diys | Photograph Transfer Diy
Contributor post service past times Janis Nicolay of Pinecone Camp
Today I'm sharing a fun, as well as fairly simple, photograph transfer projection amongst you. I've done a multifariousness of unlike ways of transferring images onto wood, stuff as well as drinking glass as well as fifty-fifty polaroid transfers, as well as excogitation to post service to a greater extent than inwards the future. For this projection I had an onetime bench that needed funktifying....
I started amongst a roughed upwards vintage bench. After stripping it as well as sanding it down, I set ane coat of primer on it. Once it dried, I painted 2 coats of a pale grayish (Universal Grey past times Behr).
I chose an image, therefore cropped as well as sized it to function amongst the bench. I therefore printed it inwards opposite (as a mirror image), therefore that in ane lawsuit applied it would read correctly.
Working quickly, I applied a layer of Liquitex Medium Gloss Gel on to the bench, therefore applied a coat to the front end the icon as well as placed it aspect upwards downwards on the bench. I smoothed out the bubbles, therefore applied a coat of gel to the dorsum of the image. The bench dried over night.
Once the bench dried, I used a textured cloth, soaked inwards warm water, to gently rub off the "back" of the icon (the paper). Starting at the corners, I sat the moisture cloth on the newspaper as well as allow it soak through a little, earlier rubbing it off. This procedure took most an hour. Once dry, I took a fine slice of sand newspaper to it, having taken all the newspaper off, to petroleum it upwards a fighting every bit well.

Finished off the bench amongst 2 coats of the gel. Now it hangs out inwards our front end all. |
The beauty of photograph transfer projects, are all the lilliputian "cracks", "scratches" as well as "imperfections". That's what I honey most it (and why I took sand newspaper to it!). So what I'm maxim is, don't larn mad if you lot can't larn every air bubble out, or you lot rub a slice of the icon off. Give it a whirl!
